It incorporates both financial and non-financial support and includes an opportunity to participate in a work placement in the Department.

Why is the Department of Treasury and Finance offering this scholarship?
The Department of Treasury and Finance believes organisations and communities grow stronger by becoming more diverse.
The Diversity Scholarship is one of several initiatives – also including our Diversity and Inclusion Framework and All Abilities Plan – through which we demonstrate our commitment to attracting, retaining and advancing diverse individuals and promoting inclusion at all levels of our organisation.
Who can apply for the scholarship?
The scholarship is open to individuals from diverse backgrounds who are currently completing undergraduate studies or are due to commence undergraduate tertiary studies in the following calendar year. This includes but is not limited to someone who:
- identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- has a disability or who cares for a person with a disability
- is from a disadvantaged or low socio-economic background
- is from a multicultural or refugee background
- identifies as LGBTIQA +.
What the scholarship offers
The successful scholarship recipient will have access to a range support that will be tailored to individual needs.
They will receive a study allowance of up to $22,500 to support full-time or part-time tertiary study, plus additional financial support of up to $7,500.
The recipient will also complete a work experience placement at the Department of Treasury and Finance and have access to Victorian Public Service (VPS) employment programs and events.
Additional non-financial support will also be provided to help the recipient complete their course of study and gain experience to advance their career.
